Definition
Head injury is one of the main causes of death and disability in the productive agegroup and most of the traffic accident. In addition to handling san location occurduring transportation of victims to the hospital, assessment and initial actions will determine the emergency room management and subsequent prognosis.
classification
Head injuries can be classified berdasrkan mechanism, severity, and morphology of the injury.
1. mechanisms: the existence of penetration of the dura mater berdasrkan
blunt trauma: a high speed (automobile collision)
low speed (falling, being hit)
2. injury severity
mild: GCS 14-15
moderate: GCS 9-13
severe: GCS 3-8
3. morphology
fracture of the skull: cranial: linear / stelatum; depressed / non-depressed; open /closed
base: with / without leakage of cerebrospinal fluid with / without VII nerve paralysis
intracranial lesions: focal: epidural, subdural, intracerebral
Diffuse: Concussion lightweight, classic Concussion, Diffuse axonal injury
